Buff Monster — The Reign Of Pink

StolenSpace is proud to present the premier London solo show from renowned Californian street artist Buff Monster. Featuring paintings on board, installation work and also the release of a limited edition print. Celebrating 10 years of the king of pink Buff Monster has created a brand new body of work expanding on and revisiting familiar themes that he has become synonymous with. The artist has become famous for his signature candy pink bubbles, drips, ice cream sundaes, breasts and Japanese-inspired cutesy winged characters (also called Buff Monsters) which bring a smile to the face. As well as his highly collectable fine art paintings Buff Monster is known all over the world for his collectible toys and design projects.

‘I’ve always painted squirts and boobs and drips, and I’ve always considered them landscape paintings; oozing landscapes. Of course, I use a very limited color palette: Buff Monster pink, along with a couple other shades of custom-mixed pink, and white, black and grays. For me, color is very important and I think that using a very limited palette serves to distill the essence of the expression. Formally, the paintings are rendered with great detail and are created in the superflat method of painting. I take great care to keep the paintings as flat as possible; making sure the surfaces is as flat and perfect as I think is appropriate. I use very fine sandpaper along the way to guarantee a smooth surface’

The show is open from 29th April through 29th May

Alex Fakso — Fast Or Die Book

Fast or Die is Alex Fakso's new photographic project, which comes to life after five years of travelling around the world, from London to the US, and as far as Russia and Japan. Metropolitan narratives immortalized in 60 shots: portraits of people running, taking the subway, sleeping on docks, sneaking into tunnels. This time Fakso expands his view beyond graffiti and tracks a robust framework of the metropolitan scenario embracing the people who inhabit it. Images of ordinary people, common people plunged into the underground chaos : Fast or Die is a powerful photo strip describing the world through the subways - a report of the contemporary underground.

To tie in with the release of the book, 55DSL created six tees with pics and graphics taken from Alex's book. Both the book and the tees are available to buy online from 55DSL's website here.

An exhibition/launch is also planned at 55DSL’s flagship London store and will take place on the 28 April 2011.

The Krah - Urban Art Exhibition

Lava Gallery are proud to present their newest exhibition featuring the work of THE KRAH. THE KRAH is a decrepit yet talented young man who has wasted most of his youth scribbling on everything and using any medium he could get his hands on.

Brought up in the Mediterranean chaos of Europe’s most ancient city, ironically the one that gave birth to democracy.
The KRAH was always fascinated by the urban disorder of his hometown of Athens, Greece (where the priests are the richest men and the sunstroke makes the nation think that democracy still exists.)

As vandalism was the most fun thing to do, THE KRAH started painting the streets and the subway trains of Athens in 1997, but his graffiti, stickers and street-art can also be seen in the streets all over Europe and cities such as Tokyo and Bangok.

The KrahAfter moving to East London The KRAH is still a very active street-artist and if graffiti is about underground freestyle funky visuals in illegal spots, THE KRAH has plenty of them to offer.

On the other hand The KRAH has also exhibited in lots of galleries in London and internationally in gallerys such as: Brooklynite in New York, ATM Gallery in Berlin, Art Basel at Miami Beach, in both of the Mutate Britain shows, Black rat Press, the Pure Evil Gallery and Art-Republic in London or Whinos Gallery Washington and the Vavel International Comics Festival in Athens.

Antony Micallef — The Abduction of Persephone Print Release

The Outsiders are set to release Antony Micallef’s first print edition of 2011, 'The Abduction of Persephone'. This ambitious project (something of an understatement for a 20-colour screen print with two additional glazes) has resulted in a magnificent edition of only 100 signed and numbered prints, each measuring 86 x 61 cm and priced at £500.

The Abduction of Persephone will be available online exclusively from The Outsiders on Thursday April 14th 2011 from 18.00 hours (6pm) UK time (that’s approximately 10.00 (10am) on the west coast of the USA and 13.00 (1pm) on the east).

While we have no doubt this is beautifully printed, for us this image looks a little too much like some of Xenz work.

Drago & Moniker Projects present: The Street Art phenomenon

DRAGO & MONIKER PROJECTS brings together an expert panel of guests exploring the ‘street art’ phenomenon and its place in the contemporary art world. A round table discussion will take place at this year’s London Book Fair, Earls Court. The future of urban culture and street art’s cross over into the mainstream art world will also be explored.

information, style pushers and chameleons from different worlds. It identifies trends, promotes artists, develops communication projects, publishes books, stages exhibitions and events and acts for companies and individuals as art

Team Robbo Exhibition — Signal Gallery

Already a legend within the international graffiti community, London's 'King Robbo' will soon lead his entire UK crew (known to the world as 'Team Robbo') into Signal Gallery for their first gallery show of the year.

Team Robbo is an intentionally amorphous and anonymous graffiti crew, which has now grown into The Team Robbo Network. Its presence stretches across the world, overseas members working in collaboration with their UK counterparts. Team Robbo UK will be represented in this show by core crew members: ROBBO, CHOCI-ROC, DOZE, FUEL, PRIME and P.I.C. - some of whom have worked together as a crew for around 25 years!

They will be supported by the artist known as 'Pranksky', who provides coverage of Team Robbo's continuing war with street artists via his media organization, Prank Sky Media.

Several members of Team Robbo are already well-known to members of the street art/ graffiti community and to art collectors alike. This stemmed from several very successful shows last year, including Robbo's solo show at The Pure Evil Gallery plus Fuel & Prime's work in 'The Architects' Group Show at The Atom Rooms in London. Prime's controversial piece 'The Age of Shiva' was widely publicised when it appeared again last year in Pictures on Walls' show - 'Marks and Stencils' before Christmas.

The crew's new show, 'The Sell-Out Tour' (which can be interpreted in a variety of ways), will be the first time that Team Robbo UK have exhibited in a gallery together. The show offers a rare chance to both view and purchase original new works and prints by this notorious crew. All work shown will be for sale.

7th April: Private View and Press.
8th April: Writer's night (By invitation only).
8th April - 7th May: open to public.

Signal Gallery - 32 Paul Street - London - EC2A 4LB.
