‘Situ’ Exhibiton by guyandherbert At Book Club London

‘Situ’ is the first solo exhibition from creative duo guyandherbert.

guyandherbert use the camera as a tool to capture thought-provoking imagery. Presenting expressions based upon their reactions and thoughts influenced by the world around them, they create the surreal in the everyday.

They create dreamlike, raw and playful images, using the environment around them to portray their vision.Traditional and basic techniques are used to capture unusual situations in front of the lens. Location, lighting, props, and actors are some of the key ingredients that go into creating their images. Capturing the moment when it happens, rather than relying upon the comfort of post production - techniques inspired by designers and photographers such as Storm Thorgerson and Gregory Crewdson.

The ongoing 'Situational Masks' series encourages the viewer to immerse themselves in a mix of obvious every day situations and interrelated environments mixed with a colourful palette of ingredients. It asks the viewer to personally conjure up their own unique story and outcome for the subject matter as bold colour and mystery lure in and intrigue us.

As well as the ‘Situational masks’, there's a selection of their striking album artwork pieces on display. Both Guy and Herbert have been involved in a variety of projects and different roles within a broad spectrum of the creative industry. This has heavily influenced their style and approach to their art. Defying design trends, modern technology, and unmotivated by profit, they have developed a cloak and dagger style approach to design. Passion NOT fashion.
